Byrgan was founded in 1973 in Burlingame, California and is family owned and operated. Our main office is in Los Gatos, California.

Our website was one of the first interactive funeral home sites in California and is the nerve center of our business, coupled with old fashioned personal service as the heart of our company, we strive to provide the best service available to our clients.

Company history

Byrgan was founded by William "Bill" Scott. After Mr. Scotts passing, the company was purchased by Don van Straaten and Jim Esenwein in 2001 and combined it with their company, Acacia Cremation Services of Los Gatos. Building on a tradition of fair pricing and personal service, Byrgan continues to grow.

Although Jim is no longer active in the day to day operation, Don and Diane van Straaten continue to serve Byrgan's clients with care and understanding

Our clients have always been able to choose arrangements in person at our location or theirs, by fax, phone, and mail or since 2003 by website and FedEx. Payment is available by cash, check, credit card or we can eMail a statement by QuickBooks for safe payment online.
We take great pride in being able to provide care and service for our clients..

Technology and Personal Service

You are the next generation of funeral consumer - educated, practical, internet savvy, and unafraid of modern technology assisting in the progress of natures course.

At Byrgan, we're addressing your needs in a revolutionary way. We've transformed a cremation service company that began with paper, pencil and typewriter, and brought it into the 21st Century. Everything we do, every product and service we offer, focuses on the unique needs of individuals seeking to arrange simple - we actually know and appreciate what that word means - direct cremation , direct burial, or graveside services.

Although making funeral arrangements will never be easy or pleasant, we've made the process easier and less unpleasant by publishing all of our service packages online. We have also included in our website, information necessary to answer most of your questions, and the documents necessary to complete the type of arrangements you prefer.

If you prefer the business standard of face to face arrangements, or, are just not comfortable with computer technology, give us a call and we will meet your needs for personal service.
